WHO WE ARE

The Siouxland Historical Railroad Association (SHRA) in partnership with the American Heartland Railroad Society (AHRS) wishes to preserve and restore our industrial heritage so that it may provide education and entertainment for all current and future generations.

Bringing History to life

TEAMWORK

Both the SHRA and AHRS are proudly working together to complete this project and hope to continue to do even more down the road.

Together, we have a strong group of volunteers from all walks of life. Each uniquely brings their own energy, passion, and expertise.

Since 1984, when Siouxland Historical Railroad Association took ownership of GN 1355 and its tender 1451, the long-term goal has forever been to restore them back to operation. After 40 years of hard work and dedication, SHRA is not only proud claim it has established, grown, and developed the Sioux City Railroad Museum, but has finally found the right organization to partner with to accomplish this goal.

Many members of the American Heartland Railroad Society bring a wealth of past and present railroading experience to the table. This also includes conducting several other successful locomotive restorations for organizations and museums across the country, making them the perfect candidate to partner with and lead the project.

Once more, the AHRS looks forward to not only utilizing their knowledge and experience in the field, but to also pass them on to new volunteers.

No matter what age or gender, we hope as many as possible consider joining our team and take part in this unique opportunity.
